MOOD BOOSTERS: WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO MOOD BOOSTER SONG?

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche 1844-1900

What’s your go-to mood booster song? What song/s do you recall in your head and have a little dance or sing-along to when you need a lift, even when there’s no technology around? Why do you love the song/s so much? Are the lyrics relevant for the stage you’re at? Or is it because of memory-linking that it lifts your spirits?

Friedrich’s right, doncha think? Have you danced to music when it's only been playing in your head? I have. My inner jukebox is well-tuned after 46 years on the planet. I can still see myself in my ‘80’s modelling heyday, dancing up a storm, sweating like a hungry wolf to DURAN DURAN with so much concrete spray in my teased-to-terrified hair that it still stood up like FLOCK OF SEAGULLS and DURAN DURAN meets THE CURE’S ROBERT SMITH as I carried my gold tipped stillettos under my arms at the end of the night. I blame the ‘80’s for a surge in the deterioration of the ozone layer. If I only cared more about the planet and less about my ego back then like I do now.

Terrrrrible!

Today’s MOOD BOOSTER is one of my all-time favourites. I sing it in my head any time I need a little boost (been singing it a LOT this week!). Because sometimes, a little boost is all we need to shake us out of where we’ve got ourselves into.

THE THE, THIS IS THE DAY because every day is a day for your life to surely change.

‘Well you didn't wake up this morning 'cause you didn't go to bed

You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red

The calendar on your wall is ticking the days off

You've been reading some old letters

You smile and think how much you've changed

All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days

You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes

You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky

This is the day your life will surely change

This is the day when things fall into place

You could've done anything, if you'd wanted

And all your friends and family think that you're lucky

But the side of you they'll never see

Is when you're left alone with the memories

That hold your life together like glue

You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes

You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky

This is the day your life will surely change

This is the day when things fall into place
