HAVE YOU HAD AMAZING SERENDIPITOUS EXPERIENCES?

SERENDIPITY (noun). Finding something good without looking for it.

ZOOLANDIPITY: Finding something really, really, ridiculously good-looking

What's the most amazing serendipitious experience you've ever had? Do you think there's a reason for them? Or do you believe they're simply indicators you're on the right path? Do you beleive in serendpity or is it just some strange, purposeless coincidence?

I’m a big believer in serendipity-everything happens for a reason. I’ve come to discover, particularly lately, it’s sometimes years before you realize what those reasons are.

Like the day I took Izaac to Video-Ezy. We’re waiting in the queue when I whisper to Izaac, “Look at that gorgeous boy,” pointing at the guy serving.  “His eyes, those lips…”

I admit it seems a bit creepy being a 46 year-old mother and scouting, especially young guys.

I leaned in close almost whispering to the guy serving us, not easy for me with my loud voice. His cheeks flush (a pretty common response when I tell them they should consider modelling or TV work). I ask if I can take his picture. Yes, in the middle of VideoEzy.

Transpires the day I scout this beautiful half-Japanese, half-Kiwi boy was his last day on the job. Serendipity indeed.

TERUMI @UNIQUE

I Instagramed a shot of TERUMIPhotographer, RYAN META asked to shoot him then he was snapped up by Ursula and Andrea, the owners for UNIQUE MODELS. A couple of weeks later, UNIQUE picked up THREE JOBS for him. Seriously fast work!

For my SCOUT page, interested in helping people get the best out of not just modelling and TV work, but life, I want to find out what makes them tick. What are their goals? What’s important to them? What’re their fears? What can we learn by looking at life through their eyes?

We posed a few questions (get it?) to TERUMI. Here's his answer to this biggie:

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FACING THE WORLD? AND WHAT CAN YOU DO TO DO YOUR BIT?

SO TERUMI, WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? My dad, it’s not an accomplishment of mine but I’d have to say that.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES FACING TEENS AND YOUNG PEOPLE TODAY?  Social networking in the wrong ways, smart phones, the education system, perceptions of beauty and the insecurities that come from that (mainstream media), food content in todays “food”, minimum wage...

WHAT'S YOUR GO-TO MOOD-BOOSTER SONG? Can I make it two? ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ by The Beatles & ‘War Pigs’ by Black Sabbath

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE? AND HOW HAS GOING THROUGH IT POSITIVELY AFFECTED YOU? Losing my dad, and as challenging as it was, to be able to carry on showing myself just how strong I am as a person.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY?

WE'RE ALWAYS ON SHOW. You never know when someone is watching you and where that might lead. Remember that as you’re staggering down the road drunk, swearing like a sailor or possibly acting a little obnoxiously.

NOTHING VENTURED, NOTHING GAINED.  There’s a lot of uncertainty in the world but one thing that’s guaranteed: Do nothing, and nothing will happen. Good on you, Terumi, for trusting me and taking a chance.

STRENGTH COMES FROM GOING THROUGH SOME TOUGH STUFF. We all go through it. Terumi's lost his Dad too (I was 15 and my dad 35 when he died). So hang in there, knowing it will pass and you can learn a lot from tough times.

WHEN THE BIG QUESTIONS ARE ASKED, SEEMS WE SHARE PRETTY SIMILAR ANSWERS. So what are each of us doing to actually make changes? It starts with one thought, then turning that thought into action. What are you doing to make a change today?

Thanks for joining me!  If you pick up any info here that could be useful to someone, share it.

Until next time,
